If you drive just west of the Phoenix city limits, you'll wind up in the West Valley. That's the name the locals use to describe the area that includes:
- Avondale
- Buckeye
- El Mirage
- Glendale
- Goodyear
- Litchfield Park
- Peoria
- Surprise
- Sun City
- Sun City West
- Waddell
- Youngtown
These cities and unincorporated communities all lie in the western portion of the Phoenix metro, but they're not SO far west that you can't commute to Phoenix! Whether you're going for work or play, you'll only have to spend about 30 minutes (or less!) in the car.
So, what kinds of homes are for sale in the West Valley? More importantly, why should you even consider looking at them?
Some of the cities here are the most upscale in the entire metro. And, many of the homes for sale in the West Valley are brand new. This side of the metro was actually developed after the east side (which is appropriately named East Valley). Parts of the West Valley -- like Surprise, for example -- didn't experience a home construction surge until the 1990's or even later. So, if you're looking for a home that has all of the newest features, you're much more likely to find it in the West Valley.
Luckily, though, the builders here didn't ignore that traditional Southwestern style. You'll find plenty of archways, tile, and earth tones in the homes for sale in the West Valley. You'll simply find them combined with newer luxuries -- like three-car garages and granite countertops!
As an added benefit, the West Valley is also home to a number of active-adult communities -- like Sun City and Sun City West. If you buy a home in one of these communities, you'll have access to a wide range of amenities. In fact, these communities were developed to make the residents feel like they were on vacation 24/7!
Bottom line -- if you're looking for a neighborhood that's full of modern amenities, luxurious finishes, and a growing population, you'll find it in the West Valley.
