Sun City Festival is a Del Webb community, and unlike most of the Sun City communities around Phoenix, the builder is still selling new homes here. That means you have two ways to buy: a resale of a plan that may have been retired years ago, or a new home from the current lineup. This page covers the plan sheets I have collected over the years. Once you know which plan you are looking at, the next step is current Sun City Festival homes for sale.

The square footage below is the figure each plan was originally sold under. The bedroom and bath layout comes off the drawings themselves, since these sheets do not print a spec line. This is not every plan built here. Del Webb also sold smaller plans and has added new series since, and I do not have sheets for those yet. If you are looking at a home whose plan is not on this page, send me the address and I will track it down.

One thing worth understanding before you start comparing. Several of these plan names are still in use, and the builder has revised them. Del Webb currently lists the Hideaway, Sanctuary, Preserve, and Journey at slightly different square footage than my sheets show, and the current Sanctuary has an extra half bath. A resale and a new home with the same name are not always the same floor plan.

Garages are the other place these plans differ. The Veranda was built two ways, with a two car garage in the Premier Collection and a three car garage in the Estates Collection. The Jubilee and Destiny are drawn with a two car garage plus a separate one car garage. The Gala has a cart storage bay, and the Journey has its own cart garage.

If building new is what you have in mind, talk to me before you visit the sales office. The person who greets you there works for the builder. Builders generally will not recognize an agent added after your first visit, so bring me along and you keep someone in the room who reads the builder contract on your behalf and will tell you plainly when a resale is the better buy.

Cottage Collection

The two smallest plans I have sheets for. Both are narrow homes with two bedrooms and a den. The Spirit puts the breakfast nook at the front of the house, and the Valor puts the den there.

Classic Collection

Three plans from 1,612 to 1,816 square feet, each with two bedrooms and a den. The Gala adds a cart storage bay, and the Celebration has a courtyard entry and a 2 1/2 car garage.

Four plans from 1,960 to 2,450 square feet. The Jubilee and Destiny are drawn with a separate one car garage, the Fiesta has an attached three car garage, and the Veranda is the only three bedroom plan on this page.

Four plans from 1,565 to 1,998 square feet, each drawn with a storage area in the garage. The Hideaway and Sanctuary have no den. The Sanctuary and Haven each have a courtyard.

Five plans from 2,023 to 2,529 square feet. The Endeavor and Journey add a powder room and a guest suite with its own bath. I do not have the Pursuit sheet on file, so its layout is blank here until I do.

What a floor plan will not tell you

Square footage and layout are the easy part. Two homes built on the same plan can sell for very different money depending on lot position, whether the home backs the golf course or a wall, which options were built, and what has or has not been updated since. On a resale, ask the age of the roof, the air conditioning, and the water heater. On a new home, ask what is included and what is an upgrade before you compare it to a resale.
