RV Garage Homes · City of Phoenix, AZ
The city of Phoenix is enormous, so its RV-garage homes are not one market but several, from acreage with a full shop up in Desert Hills to tidy attached bays on the west side. See what is listed now, or read the buyer's guide first to find the pocket of the city that fits your rig.
RV-garage homes inside the city of Phoenix cluster in a few very different pockets, and which one fits depends on whether you want acreage and a shop or a tidy bay closer in.
Phoenix is one of the largest cities in the country by land area, so an RV garage home in Phoenix can mean very different things depending on where you look. Unlike the suburbs, where the housing tends to be one type, the city itself runs from far-north desert acreage to established central neighborhoods to newer production homes on the west side, and RV space shows up in all three.
The headline for RV buyers is the far north. Up in the Desert Hills area, large lots, detached shops, and big custom RV garages are common, which is where a lot of the city's serious RV inventory sits. But there is RV space closer in too, so it helps to know the pockets.
The standout area is Desert Hills and North Phoenix, up toward the Carefree Highway and the I-17. Out there you find one-acre and larger lots with detached shops, 40 to 60 foot RV garages, drive-through access, and frequently no HOA, often on a private well and septic. It is also where much of the city's new construction with built-in 47 to 49 foot RV bays is going up.
Closer in, the picture changes. The west and southwest sides, in newer neighborhoods like the Tuscano area near the I-10 and Loop 202, offer more affordable production homes with an attached RV bay. Established areas like Arcadia and North Central Phoenix have larger older lots where a workshop or RV garage occasionally turns up, sometimes on flood-irrigated land.
Because Phoenix is so spread out, the edges matter too. The desert acreage up north flows into Cave Creek, the Arcadia side borders Scottsdale and Paradise Valley, and Laveen sits on the southwest side. For RV garage homes across the rest of the Valley, our greater Phoenix metro page pulls every city together in one place.
Here is the honest case on both sides before you focus on the city of Phoenix.
Because the city spans so much, you can find almost any RV setup here: a far-north shop on acreage, a newer home with a built-in bay, or an established central lot with room to build. Few single suburbs give you that range.
The Desert Hills area in particular delivers acreage and shop space that is genuinely hard to find this close to a major city.
The catch is that Phoenix covers wildly different areas. A Desert Hills home in the far north is a long way from a west-side Tuscano home or an Arcadia lot, in distance, price, and feel, so you really are choosing a pocket, not just a city.
The far-north acreage usually means a well, a septic system, and a longer drive into the core, while the central and west-side options trade space for location.
The first thing I sort out with Phoenix buyers: which pocket of the city you actually want. Desert Hills acreage with a 50-foot shop is a completely different home and commute than a Tuscano bay on the west side or a workshop on a larger Arcadia lot. Once we know which one fits, the search inside this huge city gets a lot simpler.
A few things I look at with buyers comparing RV garage homes across the city of Phoenix.
Door height, depth, and drive-through. Measure your rig and add working room. Up in Desert Hills you can often get a true drive-through shop; closer in, confirm an attached bay is actually RV-depth and check the door height.
Well and septic on north-side acreage. Many Desert Hills and North Phoenix properties run their own systems. Our guide on septic versus sewer is a good primer if that is new to you.
Soil and foundation on acreage and new builds. A lot of the north-Phoenix acreage and new construction sits on soils worth checking, so our guide on foundation problems to watch for in Arizona is worth a read.
Builder option versus existing. Much of the Desert Hills new construction offers the RV bay as an upgrade, so confirm the dimensions and cost before you sign, and treat the builder contract as its own thing.
HOA or no HOA, and the full inspection. The far-north lots are often no-HOA while the production neighborhoods have rules, so we confirm what applies. Our Phoenix home inspection guide covers the rest.
Where are the RV garage homes in the city of Phoenix?
They cluster in a few areas. The biggest concentration is Desert Hills and North Phoenix, with acreage, detached shops, and large custom RV garages. The west and southwest sides, like the Tuscano area, have more affordable production homes with attached bays, and established areas like Arcadia and North Central have larger older lots where RV space sometimes turns up.
Is Desert Hills good for RV garages?
It is one of the best spots in the whole city for them. Desert Hills, in the far north, has one-acre and larger lots with detached shops, big RV garages, and drive-through access, frequently with no HOA and on a well and septic. It is also where much of the new construction with built-in RV bays is going up.
What is the difference between this page and the metro page?
This page shows RV garage homes inside the city of Phoenix itself, which is huge and ranges from Desert Hills acreage to west-side production homes. If you want to see RV garage homes across the entire Valley, including the suburbs, our greater Phoenix metro page pulls every area together in one place.
What size RV garage do I need?
Measure your rig first, then add working room. A travel trailer fits a 30 foot bay; a Class A usually needs 40 to 50 feet and a tall door. Up in Desert Hills you can often get drive-through depth and a 50-foot-plus shop, while closer in you should confirm an attached bay is RV-depth, not just oversized.
